New Phone

During my travels, I spent some time in Concepcion, Chile. Now nobody told me that there was nothing to do in Concepcion until we got to Chile.T637.jpg Then everybody told us that there was nothing there. So what did we do? We went there anyway. And you know what? Everybody was right. There is nothing to do there.

Well, almost nothing. It took me two hours to see all of the sights of the city, and then I headed off to the shops. After all, if you are in a big city, what is there better to do than to go shopping. As a guy, my shopping was electronics. And the prices here are a lot better than good old Argentina.

So in all of my shopping, I found myself a phone. A pretty funky phone actually. It is a SonyEricsson T637 with an integrated camera, so now I can take photos and send them to all of my friends.

Adventure Touring Stage 5 – Concepcin

After a day ride in a bus from Via del Mar, I am now in Concepcin, one of the other great cities of Chile. It really is nothing like Santiago, which truly is a great city. It is small, quiet, and very South American in its styling.

Finding A Home
Arriving in the bus station, I followed the advice of a local and climbed aboard the first bus going in a certain direction. Sure enough, it led me to town, and the driver directed me to the main Plaza which is the centre point for every Spanish originated town.

Without a guidebook such as Lonely Planet to show me where the cheap accommodation was, I had to guess. At first I asked people, but when they all turned out to be wrong, and led me many blocks from the centre of town, I started to simply look around for myself.

World Trip – Chile

Chile was the last country on my list of places to visit before arriving at my destination of Argentina. It is also much more like Argentina than Brazil and a good introduction to what I was about to be in for. The flight from Brazil took me over the swamps of Bolivia and the tops of the Andes Mountains and was a fascinating few hours before landing in Santiago, the capital city of this narrow country. No visit to Chile is complete without a trip to the beach of Santiago, known as Valparaiso together with Viña del Mar. Then it was time to continue my travels and say goodbye to what was to become my neighbouring country.
