After getting to Mendoza, we crossed over the Andes through one of the most amazing passes with incredible switchbacks down a steep drop until reaching
Santiago, the capital of Chile. This is a dry city, but interesting to explore.
From here it was off to explore the favourite vacation spot of the city dwellers,
Viña del Mar together with it's sister beach-city Valparaiso. The water was freezing and the sea fierce, but some still braved the waters, although most lay on the beaches soaking up the sun.
Upon our return to Santiago, we took the next bus south, stopping to see
Concepción which most people had told us would be a great place to see. We were not as impressed.
