Brief Update - Bolivia
Well, after two weeks without any electricity, telephones, toilets (the bush was it the whole time), or drinkable water in places, I am back to civilization again.
Right now I am in the process of thumping out a story about all that
happened in the mountains and jungles of Bolivia. There is much to tell about my adventures there. The roads carved into the sides of sharp mountains were scary and dangerous, the lifestyle of the people was basic and fundamental, the temperature was approaching 50 degrees celcius, and the dangers were real - tigers, bears, vipers, malaria and chagas to name the most severe - but my time there was also very rewarding.
The people there are wonderful and friendly, having time to stop work and wanting to chat with us for hours at a time. The walks were long (up to 9hrs one day) but with rewarding views of beautiful mountains stretching up into the clouds and deep canyons reaching down to cold water streams below. It was certainly a wonderful place to have been.
So now I find myself in Buenos Aires for a week. It was a 32 hour bus ride from Bolivia to Buenos Aires, and I am glad to be here now. This week is a national conference of all of the YWAM bases in Argentina and as such there are people from all over the world that I am meeting. The best part however is to be able to catch up with my classmates who had gone to Peru. Oh, and to speak English again. That also is very nice.
So until I get to write my story, this is the current news on my travels. I trust that you are all in good health and I look forward to hearing from you all sometime soon.
Take care, Rob.
